Jump Peg Games

#1

Post by HandyDan »

I decided to make some to give as a small gift at this years family Christmas party. I ordered up 500 golf tees and used them all. For the game board I used some scraps I had lying around that had Formica glued to them figuring the holes would be crisper and I was right. The holes came out beautiful. Each board has 15 holes for 15 pegs. I didn't like the length of the golf tees and cut 1/2" off each one. That was nuts. Surprisingly there were only 5 bad tees in the box but there was less tees than it said on the box. 500 should have made 33 with some left over. Only had enough for 32 and only had the bad ones left over.

Cracker Barrel supposedly has them on their tables I heard. See rules below.

Do you start with one empty hole and if so where? That is why I'm asking. With all the holes filled there seems to be no starting point.

It is your choice where to start. You choose which hole to empty first. Game would be easier if you were told where to start.

So you remove a pin giving you a space to jump, then remove the pin you jumped. Then the next person has to jump into a vacant spot and remove a pin? what if there is no way to jump a pin to remove the other pin? how is it scored?

Person with the least number of pins left is the winner. Perfect game has just one pin left.

Re the Tee count; they're probably packed by weight rather than a physical count. Ie, 500 might weigh say, 10 ozs. the density of the individual tees might vary enough to account for an over/under of 3 or 4 tees.

just sayin'...

They might make good "nails" for doweling things together. drill the hole and countersink or cut the head off. I wonder what angle the cone shape is.
