outdoor chair plan?
I plan on building a couple of outdoor TV arm chairs.
Something like adirondack, but I would really like to have an adjustable back angle.
Not too bulky either as they get carried inside in the winter.
Anybody got anything to help me?

Re: outdoor chair plan?
I have the Norm Abrams NYW chair plans and built several, but am looking for something a little more stylish. The morris chair has been suggested. The majority of those plans call for oak hardwood, which puts them above my spending limit for this project, but I have been promised a PDF set of plans in much cheaper wood.

Re: outdoor chair plan?
No plan but if you hinged the the back at seat level (or ran a bar through to the sides) you could pin the back to the arms at various positions.

Re: outdoor chair plan?
I'm running through multiple plans in my head. I cannot draw plans to save my life, so I build and modify as I go if I cant get a plan to follow. Trouble with that is it gets expensive if i have to scrap the first several tries.
I have a chair that is about 75% right in terms of seat and back angle, but its too low to the ground and not high enough to support my head, so as soon as the weather gets a little warmer I will start adding bits to it until I get the right measurements to build it to fit me. Trouble is my wife is the opposite of my shape, so I need a common frame and then two personalised sitting sections.

Re: outdoor chair plan?
Things have progressed through the day to me building a morris chair (well, mostly morris) with several modifications to make a custom fit for me. Looks like its going to be white oak.
Once thats completed, the second one will be custom built for the missus.
Visitors can use the ikea seats.

Re: outdoor chair plan?
I just spent a ton of time at the web archive, and the plans I downloaded... oh my! I spent roughly five (5) hours here New Years Eve (brought in 2023 looking for wood patterns-best way ever!! ).
Wayback Machine (Web Archive)
April Wilkerson
Most of April's plans are purchase-style, but she also has a YouTube channel where she has a slew of videos. She's actually a good source to at least start for some plans. She has quite a few outdoor plans and how-to videos and instructions; while I'm sure you won't need the how-to area, it could give you ideas.

Re: outdoor chair plan?
Barb, I've seen april's utube channel a few times. That wood archive is an amazing amount of plans, I shall save that link. Thanks for finding it.
I've kind of decided on a modified Morris Stickly chair, mainly because its more complicated than the adirondack chair and I want to challenge myself.
But my local woodyard has run out of white oak, so there will be a week or so before I can start. By which time I might have changed my mind again.
Happy new year.

Re: outdoor chair plan?
You know, it might just be me but a wooden outdoors chair for 2200 dollars?? Sounds like government purchased toilet seats.
Just saying.
