I got an email from Lee Valley a few days ago with a deal on corner clamping aids. A dozen brackets for $28 Can is a pretty good deal but I made some several years ago out of shop scrap that do the same job. https://www.leevalley.com/en-ca/shop/to ... 2CVSNC%2C1
I find these clamp aids essential when putting boxes together for cabinets. You can use them to hold side panels against back panels to drill screw or dowel holes for example. One clamp at the top corner and one at the front of the base platform and the panels will stay put while you work on them. They can also be used as drilling aids on a DP like shown in the picture. I had a plane tote with the top horn broken off so I spliced a new piece on and carved it to shape and used the jig to drill the counterbore in the top.

I like speed squares and Simpson corner brackets for those tasks...Cherryville Chuck wrote: ↑Fri Feb 24, 2023 11:40 am I made some several years ago out of shop scrap that do the same job.

Re: Corner clamping aids
Not enough clamping area to suit me. I made one for outside corners too but very, very rarely need it.Stick486 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 24, 2023 7:31 pmI like speed squares and Simpson corner brackets for those tasks...Cherryville Chuck wrote: ↑Fri Feb 24, 2023 11:40 am I made some several years ago out of shop scrap that do the same job.

The ones I made ,I left the center solid to keep the legs from spreading. And made both inside and outside.
This is a good price tho for the set.

Re: Corner clamping aids
I recently needed to whip up a jig similar to yours, Charles, but had to use the right angle corner as my material support in order to get the parts I was working on both perpendicular and perfectly located for drilling (each hole in the identical location as the other parts. I regret not making this jig a long time ago.
