Where's My Pencil?

A lot of us have received ideas from Serge; this one came in today.

One small detail caught my attention...wrapping a small spring around a pencil so that it'll stick to a magnetic tool strip or other magnetic source.

I just buy several boxes and open them. The pencils seem to scatter on their own, kinda like glitter. After that, I rely on my visual acuity to find them laying around in plain sight (ref: pictures of my shop).

Great idea...currently using one my pockets...at the end of the day I might find 2-3 in my shirt, 3-4 in my back pocket, 1-2 in my apron...

...will I need to carry the magnetic strip with me...? Then I'll lose that with the pencil...

I should use this technique for my supply...instead of a box...then I'll know when to clean up the shop when there's only one hangin'

Each time I finish a project, I clean my shop. At that time, I put everything away. all in its place so when I want something, I now exactly where it is. As I work, I some how, spread my pencils out. Or as Nick said, they scatter them selves all over the shop. I Too, buy a lot of them sharpen them all and allow them to spread out as i work.
I only have two tapes. Thats what i seem to misplace more then anything else.
I need more measuring tapes.

I could swear that I saw at tape measure scurry around and try to hide under the cabinets the last time I turned on the lights. Just like those little brown lizards....
