Re: pear shaped
Real nice work, Bob. Does it taper from front to back or are those 2 separate feet in the back? Do you do those fine boxes on the bandsaw,or scrollsaw?

Re: pear shaped
Pictures of the back and underneath......
On this one I left the back panel off to cut everything out and sand the teardrop shape. Once that was smooth, I glued on the square rear panel, cut off most of the excess on the bandsaw, then the bobbin sander again to blend the curves to the back stand.
I use a bandsaw Herb, tried scroll saws but I dont have the patience for them. And a bobbin sander to do all the hard work for me.On this one I left the back panel off to cut everything out and sand the teardrop shape. Once that was smooth, I glued on the square rear panel, cut off most of the excess on the bandsaw, then the bobbin sander again to blend the curves to the back stand.

Re: pear shaped
Teardrop and pear both sound better than kidney. Nice. One of the benefits of using beech with something dark colored is that the beech doesn't compete with it.
