piggy bank

#1

Post by sunnybob »

This the fourth Piggy bank I have made, they seem to be popular around xmas time. Lets hope this one sells.
Birch ply sandwiched between Padauk, with ears by Iroku.
About 10" long x 6" high x 3" deep.
Theres a large hole in the base to remove the money, covered by the trapdoor you can see, which requires 2 screws to undone to stop kiddies accessing the cash.

Another beautiful piece of work. Do you buy the eyes?
Too bad they are doing away with money here. A good way to use up scraps too.

Herb, craft hobby shops sell packs of assorted eyes for dolls and soft toys, for a few pennies.
Theyre a fun addition as the coloured piece free floats inside the little plastic dome. They are just stuck on, because I cant carve, and it makes the shape more recognisable.
I picked out 2 blue eyes, because theyre more noticeable, put them on the bench, turned around, and one had disappeared. I could not find it. Went back to the bag and there were no more blue eyes! So I had to choose between pink, green, and yellow. Didnt like any of those, so had to resort to the other pack of assorted sized black eyes. :D
