Help me make a decision #2

I was in the hunt for a palm router and missed out ordering one from HD by 24hrs.
A Bosch Palm router installers kit,1 HP router, offset base, dust collection, case, etc.

I was actually after a palm router with the plunge fixture. A 1 HP not the 1 1/4 HP unit. I really don't think the 1/4 horse is going to make a difference in spinning a small router bit.

So after waiting a considerable length of time it arrived Saturday.

So should I

a) wait for a sale and buy the plunge base
b) send it back and buy the 1 1/4 HP unit with the plunge base
c) buy a different brand with the plunge base.

I'm not married to big blue. At my age I'll probably die before the router does.

BTW I'm staying away from ordering stuff until my "gray matter" comes back on line.
I can explain it to you but I can't UNDERSTAND it for you!
Wait a moment, let me overthink it.!
Of course I talk to myself, -- sometimes I need expert advice. :o

I would go for the 1 1/4 with extra plunge...the offset base will help you get into tighter inside corners but you can always get that later...I made the mistake of buying the 1 1/4 without the plunge base and then bought it separately...cost me a bit more...
Don't piss off old people. The older we get the less "Life in Prison" is a deterrent !

Lots of us have the DW611 package. I have yet to hear a bad thing about them. I recall Charley L say that he was so attached to his that if it died today he would have a new one by tomorrow. The only issue I've come across is that it is much easier to install and remove bits if you remove it from the base but that is no big deal.

I'm a friend of Glen Huey. He used the DeWalt plunge router regularly for a lot of joinery work.

Just FYI, since leaving PopWood and then having his 360 Woodworking partners go south on him, he and his wife now run a Donut Shop. https://the-donutdude.com/
