Wood and resin table tops

I've watched a few videos of guys making wood and resin table tops where you put interesting looking pieces of wood inside a frame and fill the gaps with copious amounts of colored resin. I watched one this morning where the maker used wooden blocks in the gaps to reduce the amount of resin needed (plus reduce the weight). He poured a good layer of resin in and then stacked the blocks on it, staying away from the edges. Another option might be planer shavings, alternating thin layers of each.

Not sure if this link will work.
