Still Workin'

#1

Post by OutoftheWoodwork »

I'm trying to get three of everything that I want in the fair, but time is quickly running out. Took this week off to get things done, but didn't get out to the shop until Wednesday, so I lost two days, and a third, thanks to the Holiday.

Anyway, I decided to see if I could get Snoopy and Woodstock as a set cut, and see if the hats I bought for the Grinches would fit. YAY it fit Snoopy!! WHOOP WHOOP! I was able to cut one Snoopy, and I think I have two of Woodstock done, but because we were invited to a friends' house that we don't get to see very often, it will wait till tomorrow. Still have to paint and get the scarf to connect them, but I'm on my way.

I also have three sets of Santa and a Reindeer peekers cut, but no picture (yet.)

OOH< those are really cool! Does Snoopy have to have a support to keep from falling over? He looks like he might be top heavy with the stocking cap on. Looking good Barb.

He's free-standing Herb (at the moment). If I find the set isn't sturdy enough when I get them completed, I'll make a base to set them on.

For some reason my hours are all mixed up, I can't seem to stay awake during daylight hours and can't sleep at night. Maybe I will see if Stick has any of that grizzly bear meat I can borrow so I can hibernate?

Started painting the Grinches tonight, and spent almost 3 hrs in the shop after work sanding on the other things; like the reindeer heads and the little snowmen. Snoopy and Woodstock are in the house to be painted.

I'm not selling commercially, Herb. I'm not gonna go through all the red tape over 3 snoopy replicas and a half dozen grinches. It's a small fair. lol

I often wondered about that,
My uncle used to do the Daffy Ducks, and Pepe Le Pew etc. for Christmas when I was young.

The painting marathon started last night: Then KEN had to remind me (around 9:00 p.m.) that his invoicing had to be done last night! (@$$hole!) By the time I got his invoicing done, the links to pay by cc, emailing and printing, it was 1:00 a.m. and after 1:30 a.m. when I got to climb into the rock-hard, worst mattress on the planet.... and I have to be up at 5:30 a.m. Needless to say I overslept (till 6 a.m.) and with maybe 4 hours sleep, I'm walking and working in my sleep at this point.

Also found the scarf to use for Snoopy and Woodstock, but I need to do the tassels and make a couple adjustments.

P.S. Someone get this forum to fix the portrait pictures view... it's BUGGING me....

I like the way you tethered Woodstock to Snoopy, A lot of work going into those pair. Working 3 jobs is not easy by any means.

We used to correct orientation of pictures Barb but when you click on them and they open in a new window they correct themselves so it really isn't worth the effort. If someone needs to see them in correct orientation to make it easier to see just click on it.

Pfft it bugs me to see it up here sideways lol

Anyway, I've spent the last 5 days working on getting things completed. Most everything got the last of the painting details last night.
Grinches, snoopy, Santa hats... Unfortunately, there are items that aren't gonna make it to the show for various reasons. Mostly for mistakes while attempting to paint, and I don't have time to sand off and start over, but one or two because I don't have time to paint them. Then there's the couple of items that after the conditioner, they still took the stain poorly (I think because it was too dry. A couple of the wood pieces had been around in the shop for a while. Should have been soaked in the conditioner rather than brushed/wiped on.) The original sleighs I posted here couldn't be used: there were wood imperfections (dimples, mars, etc.) that I couldn't sand or disguise, so maybe I'll give as a gift to someone who wouldn't care about the imperfections.

So two days of going to bed at like 1 a.m. and getting up around 5 a.m. or so is catching up to me: things are getting blurry, but here is Snoopy and Woodstock. This is before I modified the scarf, which I think has come out well. I'll post pictures of my setup tomorrow morning at the fair.

Send good thoughts for a successful show...

P.S. as I proof this, the singers from Charlie Brown Christmas shows is playing in the background... kinda fitting, considering the picture I'm posting.
