Magnetic dust collector collars

Has anyone ever used anything like these for their DC setups?

That is a unique way to solve certain problems, Do you think it
is more designed for a mobile DC unit rather than a stationary application that has all machines permanently hooked up?

In my shop (when completed) the machines are (mostly) going to be on mobile bases rather than being in a dedicated place (though one or two will not be moving much). One thing I want to avoid is dust collector lines crossing every which way over the floor, and I was just thinking about solutions for having easily-attached/detached DC duct lines for when mobility around the shop is important.

Realize that when I see things like this I become curious and just want to see the utility in applying it to my situation -- I may not (and in many cases do not) ever implement the idea.

I can see where they might have some merit in a shop where the tools are on mobil bases like mine. I ran a trunk line from the DC across the rafters with drop downs along 2 walls and 1 pipe that can be raised and lowered via simple pulley system. As a result I do have an "adapter" issue on occasion (as in I can't find the damn things).

Look forward to comments on their actual use.

DC trunk line along the wall..
saddle off of trunk line..
machines to the wall..
metal blast gates..
use metal slip connectors hose to gate.....
way cheaper..
makes for shorter hoses and no hoses on the floor..
and no plastic to break the static grounding loop..

If you have one clear spot you are moving your machines into, one at a time, then that connector would make life easier. It all depends on how much switching you do. multiple locations go with what Stick said and use blast gates to isolate machines not in use. I used the plastic elbows and tees which have some taper to them which made it hard to keep hoses on so I wrapped them with duct tape for more friction. You can get clamps with a type of wing nut instead of screwdriver or socket driven and they make changing connections pretty quick too.

I use a large headed self taping Sheetmetal screws to hold all connections together, one side or both sides of plastic pipe and flex tubing and blast gates.
