I just saw an interesting measuring device that clamps on a chop saw fence. It would still require you to move your board to where the display says your target length is and that could have a small error from board to board but for average work it's probably pretty good.

Only one. Where your piece is too long for a stop block. Unless you have your chop saw bolted to a dedicated cut off bench then stop blocks are usually pretty limited in how far from the blade you can put them. I devised a pretty good system that works for a Milwaukee 12" SCMS but I'm limited to less than 2'. If I wanted to cut a set of table legs I'd have to mark and try and line up the blade by eye and sand or rasp the difference in length later. This device would cut them pretty close.
