My daughter's neighbor had a family piano bench she wanted rehabbed. It was in sad shape with dents, scratches, blush, and paint splatters all over the top. I tried to just refresh the finish, but no luck. So I stripped and refinished the top and just touched up the bottom and tightened the hardware. It took a while to find what would be a good color match on the top. Ended up using a red dye stain first, then a black dye stain, the proceeded with varnish interspersed with some glaze to get it dark.
