So I decided it was time to get myself a new stud finder...knuckle is getting sore...
After checking the usual suspects (reviews, youtube, etc) I decided on the Franklin 710+...
Just came in and have been running around the house checking walls...works very well. It is much more intuitive than others I've had, most recently the Zircon. No need to find the edge in one direction, then the other. The Franklin has 13 sensors and as you move it over a stud the sensors light according to where the stud is...sweet...

Seeing both edges simultaneously is a big plus. Does it locate electrical wiring like my Zircon does?

Re: New Stud Finder is in the House...
Depends...it doesn't detect current in the wires. It does detect wires if they're big enough to create an "inconsistency". I detected wires when they were by themselves in the wall but if they're attached to a stud it might or might not show it as a bigger stud. Normally it lights up three lights for a stud...the studs that I know have a drop down to a box sometimes lights up four lights.Cherryville Chuck wrote: ↑Tue Dec 15, 2020 2:53 pm Seeing both edges simultaneously is a big plus. I suppose that works well enough. If one stud is 3 lights then a double stud would be 6 so 4 would be a giveaway that there is something else there that is not a stud.

The only difference might be the number of sensors...the Franklin has 13...kmealy wrote: ↑Fri Feb 05, 2021 4:59 pm I saw one of these demonstrated a bit ago. On my list

...but then how many could one possibly need...

I have a stud finder, that I have had forever. Used to work, last time I tried it on me it read out "Dead Too Old". Maybe I need a new battery.
