Hinge Help?

Making youngest grandson a toybox. Progression pics to follow. What are some of the best ez close hinges for the lid. Will probably use a piano hinge to fasten the lid to the box. Don't want the little fella (or folks) to get hurt.

Uncompromised sawdust and chip maker.

The test results are in. Retirement is the best job I'm suited for.

Now I know why old guys wear suspenders.

These aren't really hinges, they're 'stays'...use them with your piano hinge.

One mistake I made when I built one for my kids many years ago was not adding a spacer between the back and lid and hinge. That caused the lid to be at 90* when open and it wasn't stable at that angle. A spacer would have allowed it to open about 10* past vertical which would have been stable. I didn't have stays like Roxanne showed back then. At perfectly vertical there is no closing force on the lid. The weight increases to full at the point where it closes.
