No more coupons at HF
I just went to our local HF store to get some 4 1/2" grinding disks. They told me there are no longer having 20% off coupons. She told me corporate stopped it in February with no explanation to their workers. She said there were alot of unhappy customers. That was sometimes the only reason I bought certain things there. I guess they have a enough business without it.

I noticed that in their ads lately. Not a biggie for me. Haven't been there in a couple years.

Their prices for cheap Chinese tools are now, in most cases, almost what you pay for the better made same tools, so why buy Chinese? Get the better ones instead. I think Harbor Freight's advantage is no longer there. There are still a few "Gems" to be found there, but most is now either junk or so expensive that a better version of the same thing can be found for just a little more, elsewhere. I have a Harbor Freight store within 2 miles of me. I still go there, but less and less often, and have learned to be very selective about what I buy there.

Re: No more coupons at HF
Charley I’ve noticed the same thing at Princess Auto up here. They are somewhat like HF. It’s gotten hard to find a bargain there anymore so like you I usually spend the few extra dollars and get better quality.
It’s kind of to be expected when manufacturing goes looking for cheap labor. Eventually those economies improve, wages go up, and the competitive advantage starts to disappear. Remember when we were young and it was Japanese made goods instead?

You beat me to it, I was thinking the same thing. I remember when there was a lot of "made in India" tools out there too. Don't see them anymore.Cherryville Chuck wrote: ↑Sun Oct 31, 2021 12:03 pm Remember when we were young and it was Japanese made goods instead?
