Just finished a par of Norm Abrams adirondack chairs for a neighbour,
Made in soft wood to keep the cost down, and they are going to be painted so will last many years for him.

Re: Norm's chairs
Good job, as usual, those are a time tested reliable design, and they will last for years,if taken care of.There was a round table that went with them that was very popular too. I had a set for a long time, myself, and they got a lot of good use. My wife made some cushions for them too.
During the 60's-70's, the Gypsies used to go through the communities every spring and sell those made from western red cedar. They would set up a production site somewhere and cranked them out by the 100's.
I built a few over time for other people too and they are fun to build. I used a redwood stain to finish them. Those wide arms are handy for setting a drink.
Good to see someone building something. Thanks for posting.

Re: Norm's chairs
A couple years ago I made a double seat, just adapted bits and made a middle back piece.
With that set I made a sloping footstool and a square table.

Re: Norm's chairs
I did a double for a friend once too, I think I got the Lee Valley plan. It came as a stationary or a rocker,he wanted the rocker, he furnished the redwood that he cut on his Wood Miser mill. I saw it months later, it looked awful, he must have finished it with used motor oil, ...........

Re: Norm's chairs
Bob you could use your same plan and revise the leg height to accept a rocker, fairly easily.

If I get asked for more, I shall give them the rocker option
