Circle Cutting Jig with Guide Bushing
IMO Most router circle jigs have a problem in that the cord winds up wrapped around the router after a couple of rotations. This YouTube video Router Circle Jig shows construction of a circle cutting jig using a guide bushing as a pivot - in use, the router is held in the same orientation and the cord doesn't get tangled and wound around the router. Not sure about the idea of adding the bearings as shown at the end, the guide bushing works perfectly well without all the complications. I have one of Pat Warner's circle guides which works very well, except that the router is bolted to the guide and so the cord gets tangled up - one of these days, I'm going to make a bushing with the OD to fit the hole in the circle guide and the ID to match a 3/4" guide bushing and solve the problem. I basically only use a 1/4" spiral bit to cut circles and so don't need the large hole presently in the base of the circle guide.
