Restoring old planes

This a pretty good basic primer on restoring an old plane:

If you are willing to put in what can add up to a few hours of work you can end up with a very usable tool that looks and performs well. Usually the cheaper the deal on old planes the more work they require. A lot of the work can be done while you sit and relax. A lot of the work doesn't require much thought, just a lot of repetitive motion, so I find a good way to relax my brain when it needs a break from a complicated build on a project.
