WEN 3962 10" Bandsaw
A few years ago I bought a Wen 3962 10" bandsaw to have for general purpose work around the shop. I have Ridgid 14" with the raiser block and set up mostly for resawing.
Shortly after I bought the saw , the upper guide bearings lost their balls and I am not a fan of ball bearing guides anyway,as I have always had cool blocks in the past on all my machines. So I made a cool block set up for upper guide set. I did not put a bearing behind the blade on the upper guides. I left the BB guides including one on the back of the blade on below table set, and it seems that is all I need, they all work fine. I am debating weather to put cool blocks on the lower set or not. For the time being everything is fine so I will just leave it alone.

Re: WEN 3962 10" Bandsaw
Nick asked if the bade adjustment knob works to adjust the blade. On the 1/2", and 3/8" blades it does, but on the 1/4" and 1/8" it doesn't work well. the blades start out fine and then gradually run off the wheel while they are cutting.
Here is the way that light fastened to the back of the machine shines in your face. I tried to wrap it around to the front, but it is not set up for that.
I also made a new insert for the table that has holes in it to help the DC system remove some of the sawdust from around the blade.

Herb...check the positions of the different blades on the lower wheel...if it needs adjustment I just posted the adjustment for the Rikon but it's the same for any bandsaw with the 4 adjustment bolts holding the wheel hub...

I think the Rikon is the same saw, my cousin has one and it is a little fancier, but quite similar in all respects. I will have to dig around for the Manual , and see what they say.

Re: WEN 3962 10" Bandsaw
The WEN and the Rikon are really the same saw. I have the Rikon but have carefully compared the two and they are identical except for the finish. I was able to add a light to it that shines from the side. It's a small, 50w equiv. LED reflector bulb. Eyes are getting pretty old, so more light is better.
I haven't been around here much, but glad to see all the old friends. I've posted on the other site about WOW a few times, and I know a couple of folks have come over.
I've had some serious health issues that affect breathing so my wood work is going very slow. Just finished enclosing the end of my patio with lattice, including a door with lattice over it so we can pull a garden hose in. Wife's going to use it for plants during summer. Too damn hot in the open sun. Going to paint it all at some point. Limiting my work time to an hour at most seems to help, but glad I have a portable oxygen concentrater.
It all came back to the long term radiation after effects. Nasty stuff.
Where's Rainman?

Re: WEN 3962 10" Bandsaw
My son in law has a Ryobi 10" BS. It might be the same basic saw as the Wen and Rikon. I've found this to be true with many other tools. I was pleasantly surprised at how well it works for small projects. Unlike my 18", his 10" is portable and can be stored out of the way, then plopped down on the work bench when you need it. It's almost worth having the 10" for doing small curved work and leaving the big one set to do resawing type jobs. Luckily I don't need to buy it, I just go borrow his.

Buy some cheap sewing machine lamps with a magnetic base. (just bot a 3 pack on Amazon for about $20) You can position them anywhere & any way that suits the task.Herb Stoops wrote: ↑Mon Sep 20, 2021 1:25 pmThe way that light fastened to the back of the machine shines in your face.
AND they can be moved from tool to tool w/o a fuss.

I can explain it to you but I can't UNDERSTAND it for you!
Wait a moment, let me overthink it.!

I got a 2 pack of them recently. I'm finding I need to eliminate shadows on things like the drill press and milling machine.smitty10101 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 07, 2021 6:13 amBuy some cheap sewing machine lamps with a magnetic base.
