Metabo SCMS
I think I was vaguely aware that Metabo had brought out a newly designed SCMS.
Out of curiosity I started checking it out...
https://www.metabo-hpt.com/us/main-navi ... with-laser
The reviews are pretty impressive and I really liked that Metabo responded quickly to any concerns expressed in the reviews.
Somebody's paying attention to Bosch. Customer service is paramount.
Excellent pricing by the way.
My Bosch 10" SCMS has been a real joy but it's the older style and i really don't like the wasted space i need to allow for the rails to slide back.
I've been contemplating upgrading to the newer zero rear clearance style but I'm going to give this Metabo some serious consideration.

Re: Metabo SCMS
It should take up less room alright. I bought a Milwaukee about 3 years ago. The 12" was on sale at the local HD for $399. No laser but it has a digital readout to 10ths of a degree. It is deadly accurate but it takes 42" of space when retracted.
i have 3 Hitachi routers and all of them have been trouble free so I have no idea what their CS is like. I can't remember anyone else saying they had to deal with them either. So good customer service is great but never needing them is even better.

Re: Metabo SCMS
I like the idea of the slides being on the inside...and the price is right...
Don't piss off old people. The older we get the less "Life in Prison" is a deterrent !

Spendier, certainly....
@Stick486 doesn't have a high opinion of the "new" Metabo venture-capital era stuff, afaik....

Re: Metabo SCMS
A couple of years ago I found a manufacturer's site, Rexford or Rexroth or something similar, and among the brands they built for were both Hitachi and Bosch. Whether they still do for Metabo HPT I don't know.

Re: Metabo SCMS
"spendier" = $200 more.
In the final analysis, if the Metabo is decent quality, and makes precise cuts, repetitively, that's all I could ask for. As I originally mentioned, their Customer Service people seemed to be right on top of satisfying customers..
(I like Bosch...but I don't have shares )
Awhile back i mentioned that my daughter bought her husband a King Canada 10" SCMS. I've used it quite a bit, when I've been over there visiting.
I like it! Seems like a pretty decent tool. BUT it has the rails sliding to the back; what I don't want.
