Awhile back, I think maybe it was Charles, brought up the topic of 'Garry Oak'. I didn't think it was commercially available.
Apparently it is...

Speaking of hard-to-find exotic hardwoods, the same source for the Garry Oak also has YELLOW Narra opposed to the red variety.
The red was lovely to work with and the yellow is only different in colour.

It has amazing end grain; perfect for cutting boards!

I like the look of the Garry oak. I don't imagine there are large volumes of it. Is that on the way to your kid's place?

Yes! We're heading over on the 22nd, but SWMBO is going to insist on taking her Xterra rather than my van, in case it snows while we're over there.
Not a lot of Xtra space in her suv. Also, I haven't checked their holiday hours yet.
Getting to Westwind is high on MY priority list! ;)

I'm sure I read something about shorts on the site so you could pick some of those up for toys and cutting boards.

Legally or though some farmer's field? You could say you don't speak English and claim to be a refugee; they'll carry your bags for you.
Honestly, Herb, It just isn't worth the hassle. The restrictions up here are worse than down there. And with the cost of getting that less than useless PCR test why risk it. If you come up with a false positive you ain't goin' nowhere.
