Whats the time Mr Wolf?

My young grand daughter can only read the time on a digital clock (its a generation thing), so I made this little bedside clock to get her thinking about dial positions.
The question mark is made of three layers of beech (central offcut from a bandsaw box), haunched mortise and tenoned into a solid beech base. The dot is Walnut.
The clock mechanism is held in by the spring of the wood, it has to be forced open to insert the clock.

Bare minimum of finishing, just a few coats of shellac, but it seems to be doing the trick.

Usually, when I call out "whats the time Mr. Wolf, the resounding answer is "milkshake o'clock"

That's a clever design and good execution Bob. I've heard that us old geezers would be surprised by how many and who aren't able to tell what time it is with that clock.

Thanks all.
I cut the shape on the bandsaw, and then sanded to a slightly tight size so the loop has to be sprung open a little to remove the clock for a battery change.

I've just had it pointed out to me that the clock face "6" is wrong. Theyve printed a 4 (IV) instead of (VI).
It is a very cheap chinese clock, but seems us old folk need new eyes.

Bob, I think it is 6 that is wrong, the 4 seems to be OK. They printed the numerals upsidedown starting with the 4 though.

Herb, yes, its the six.
Many clocks, both large and small, turn the lower roman numerals around so that they read correctly from the hand pivot point. You notice the V is upside down for this purpose, but the chinese designer didnt shift the I to the other side.
