After the mezzanine deck and great room the kitchen was attacked next... (the woman of the house is barely 5' tall)...
There is nothing special about these cherry cabinets... fairly routine builds... all the shelves drawers are on easy close glides...
other than the floor this corner cab was the only piece of difficulty... w/ not much plumb/level/square, slight of hand for the aesthetics was in order...

.
the island wasn't special either... another ripped out page of a home magazine (here, this is what I want only different – got that a lot) and scaled for comfort for the woman of the house (WOTH) and to fit the space available... the floor needed to be ripped up and the joists sistered and intermediate sistered joists added to support the granite CT on the island...

W/ the WOTH being rather short, pull out steps/step stools were installed in the cab bases for easier access to the uppers, use the sink and make cooking easier...

the flooring is cork and the original floor needed a lot of flatting... 2x6's @ 16OC (specs called for 2x10's), the crowns were alternated at random w/ 3 ply ½'' CDX for the deck... 2 joists were longitudinally split... all were sistered and crown corrected... installed intermediate sistered joists to bring the spacing up to 8''OC and shims everywhere... 7ply AC 5/8 T&G for the new deck..
Cab bases were built and installed separate of the boxes to comp for the floor and walls...
