Never happened before, but I had some cherry left over from a job, so cut it into 4, glued them into 2, and made the elephant from one. I will make another elephant from the remaining block, but I'll face it the other way to make a pair.
Its about 10" x 8" x 3 1/2". Mainly cherry, but the drawer fronts are rippled beech for contrast, and the tusks are maple. I will leave the maple bare as any shellac or wax will yellow them.

Excellent job, as usual. Do you glue the beech on the drawer fronts after they are cut out?
The contrasts between the 3 woods are very predominate.
The last picture looks like it is outside in its pen by the gate.

Thanks Herb. Yes the drawers are glued back and front. On a regular bandsaw box there is always a large gap around the drawers because of the blade kerf, but I dont like that, so the fronts are always from different wood nibbled and sanded to fit the hole nicely, and then glued to the drawer with masking tape and clamps to make sure the gap stays as tight as it can get. Then a slight rounding off with a piece of 240 grit to take the sharp edges off.

Use for old pallet wood.
We had this old mirror we picked up from an estate sale years ago.
(We were going to do something with it)
I removed the brackets that mount the mirror to the back of a dresser and built the frame to fit the mirror.
I made the turn knobs by cutting a piece of doweling to length, then cut that in half.
I bored out one half of each and inserted a long wood screw in that piece, then glued both halves back together.
The hole in the frame was bigger than the screw and the one in the mirror frame was the same size as the screw. This allow the knob to be tightened which pulled one side of the mirror into the frame so you can adjust the mirror to any angle that you wanted.
I added pieces of doweling to the handles to facilitate tightening of the knobs.
Several coats of paint later and with the addition of wheels to the supports to the frame, it was finished, and Sandra is able to roll it around her gym as she likes.
By the way, the frame was built out of reclaimed pallet wood.
The whole job was done with stuff from my collection of junk in my shop.

I picked up a couple of Pallets at the mall yesterday and took one apart and built this plant stand for Sandra.
It will look better once she gets some plants in it.
