Point of Sale Stand and WIP

WIP is about as far as I can get, apparently. I get them cut, and that's about where they get stuck. But here's a couple things I got going, and thanks to "Dr. Bob" (I call him) I have my point of sale for my tablet. I was so excited when he showed me the finished product. I told him I couldn't thank him enough, and he said it was actually fun to make it. I cut the portion that holds the tablet, and he built the box. I also tried my hand at flocking in the slots for the tablet to avoid scratches (and to dress it up just a bit). Came out okay for my first try, I think. He even found a lock and key set around the shop and installed it on there for me. The tablet rotates so I can turn the tablet around and have people sign for their purchase if needed.

Knick Knacks sell the best at this show, so while I have some signs to put out, I'm concentrating on ornaments, shelf sitters, and cutesy stuff. I have quite a few of the eyeglass holders, and a few of the "wonky reindeer" and a couple of phone stands; and I have a couple of light up ideas I want to do. I started playing with compound cutting on my scroll saw last winter and had fun with it. Hopefully I'll get more of those done.

I like the designs. Are you painting them or leaving that up to the new owners?

now that's an idea...
turn them into kid's projects...
and sell the customer a coloring kit...
add paint by number transferable templates...

Exactly. The pictures made me think about the "unfinished furniture" fad that was popular in the early to mid 70s . It's not a bad marketing strategy. Finishing is time consuming and you always risk that the potential buyer won't like what you did. Let them do it the way they want it to look.

Thanks guys. No plans on making these items "DIY" right now. They'll be painted and gussied up to be set on someones mantle, table, etc.

That's not to say I won't cut some and sand them up as a kit at some point, but right now these will be finished items. I have two birds partially painted, two bears partially painted, three little snowman heads almost done, and two wonky snowmen that need their faces put on. Then I have two or three headphone stands ready for packing, and you saw the snowman light bulb ornaments; those have to get a hole drilled in the top for the line to be fed through. Oh yeah-I have a sleigh and reindeer for the mantle I started cutting, and one more bird sitting on the scroll saw to be cut, I need to do the reindeer for the sleigh, and I have three mini reindeer head ornaments I cut out some time ago on the scroll saw. (I have NO idea where I put all those wood ornaments I burned last summer.... so those need to be found), and and and...

...and I think I need a shop foreman to keep me on task and get things done so I don't get so squirreled!
