Back in the dark ages (2022) I saw DaninVan's post for a couple of elegant looking cheese slicing boards and thought to my self, self, perhaps you should try that. Well, fast forward almost a year and voila, the results below magically appeared. Sad to say this is the first project I've completed in almost 2 years. No good reason why, just ran out of ideas/motivation. Hopefully the spell has been broken.

That is a great looking board,Jon. they would make good Christmas presents. Not cost an arm and a leg either.

I have not even been out to my shop for over 2 years, either.

Time to get out there Herb. I just couldn't find a fun idea. Now the son of a good friend wants to learn woodworking and has asked if he can bring some projects to the shop. That is definitely impetus to get the place in order and start anew.

Nicely done, Jon! How about making some simple toys, games, puzzles for donating to somewhere like a Children's' ward at your hospital, or Community services, or whoever distributes gifts at Christmas? I've got a bunch of links here if you need some ideas.

If you bought multiple cheese slicer hardware kits, try an end grain one; make it thicker though...up to an inch thick for strength.
Keep the 1/4" hole fairly high so that the slot doesn't weaken the end grain too much.

I fully understand that Jon. We get so involved in LIFE that we forget to have a good time in our shops.
I hadn't done anything in my shop for a while, then my baby daughter, found a set of end tables and a coffee table that she wanted , they are used but like new . Nice heavy wood pieces. Problem was , they had glass tops and she has 3 boys.
I opened my big mouth and told her that if she bought this set, I would make wooden tops for them..
She did and Presto, I am back in the shop.
This time I took pictures all the way through the build.
Now i will have to get Sandra to move them from the camera to my computer so I can post them.
Daughter is happy and i am back in the shop again.
By the way, nice job on the cheese cutter. Had one once but always seemed to grab a knife to cut cheese instead of digging it out.
Didn't want to cut dryer heavy cheese anyway. Might have been that I didn't know how to properly use it.
I'll get those pictures of the tables posted today.

Cheese board an cutting board are on my "to do" wish list, but we always put everything in the dishwasher every time, so life span would be very short.
You havent told us what woods you used.
