In my effort to use as much existing stock as I can to avoid SWMBO's threatening to burn what she can't identify with - I pulled this 2" piece of mystery wood off the pile, cut 14" off the good end, but didn't want to give in to her on the live edge end, so I think I used it ok. I get to laugh if even one sells.

I did, Herb. Tried to use a little bit of what Scott tried to teach me.

Beautiful paint job on that trout John. The bottom photo looks like pine. The top one I'm not sure about.

Same board Chuck. Smelled like some kind of pine when it was cutting.

it looks more like western cedar, the pine is more white when green, and kind of a white yellow with only light grain streaks. Jon's board shows the darker center grain and lighter outer grains. Is the top one sliced lengthwise, and the bottom one crosscut? or maybe a crouch cut?

Like i said, it was the same piece. I used one side for 1 and the other side for #2. It just looked better.
