Napkin holder

#1

Post by Bushwhacker »

Sandra wanted something to hold the napkins and still be able to slide one out at a time.
We normally eat in our recliners as we watch a movie. We have several times knocked the napkins over and made a mess
I came up with this.
I had the piece of 1" dowelling and simply cut it to length.
I then chiseled the grooves into it, then sanded it down until they fit and slip easily into the two sides of the arches.
I used one groove to become the templet for the second groove
I attached the arches by predrilling from the bottom and counter sinking the screws .
I sanded and stained all the parts before assembling, and left the roller the original color.
The dowel could have been a bit heavier, but it works fine.
It was a quick build and she is happy.

I wonder why the pictures came out sideways. They were straight up right when I down loaded them from my computer.

It might be from taking them with a phone. I use a small point and shoot camera and they seem to come out right. The only thing I had a problem with was the order of posting, I had to post last one first in a series. I do download to my computer first and resize before I up load them.
