Oh Yeah! Forgot I did this

See? Foggy Brained!

Olaf was a birthday present for the boss in mid November, and finally found a scrap bin pattern I liked, and got it made. Found the pattern here and added wheels (right? Right. I think I did, anyway... I forget.) Anyway, the bottom two are what I did for Halloween. The outline of the large skeletons were done with a jig saw. The inner ribs had to be done on my scroll saw, since there were some areas that were too small for the saw blade to fit into. That was a feat in itself! The throat of my scroll saw is only 16" and these skeletons were much larger than that. Thank goodness for spiral blades!!!! I made one cat, and thought he was too small, so made a second one, larger. Both of them got glow in the dark paint on their eyes and teeth ( I think). I also did some bats, but they were hard to see. I found a scene that Ken liked, and did a pallet painting, and did the tombstone with the crow on the top. The others were a complete joke. I'll be making some of my own next year. (Kept these, however, to use as a pattern for the shape of them. Also gonna keep the lighting mechanisms in them, if possible.)

Okay that's all I've done in wood since October... you're all caught up now. Ken and I are making a second bunny with his butt up in the air with the carrots that I did last year for Easter. This set is for his great aunt in New York, who fell in love with them when she saw it.

That is really cool. You and Ken are so artistic. You guys did a fantastic job setting up the display and the lighting is perfect, those solar lights sure beat stringing cords. I like all your signs and cut-outs they really go together well the way you arranged them, both you need a good pat on the back for that display.

Barb, have you ever tried to make band saw boxes? I bet you'd come up with some very interesting shapes.

Ken wants to learn how to do the boxes, Tom. He actually has a block glued up to do one, but when he glued it up, we only had the wide blade that came with it. Ordered a few blades and Ken put on the 1/8" blade (mainly for me.) Now to learn how to use them without having them pop off. I actually reset the blade last weekend all by myself after making the boo boo of trying to back out of a cut-was so proud of myself! Only one problem, and that's getting top and bottom to both ride the middle of the wheel on the rubber. The top is perfect. The bottom wheel, no matter what adjustment we make, it comes forward on the wheel. It doesn't come off, but it will NOT ride the rubber in the middle. It starts on the rubber, but when we do the "trial run", turning it by hand to make sure it's gonna stay there, it moves forward on the wheel, to where the teeth are just at the edge of the wheel. Strange...
