Out of my comfort zone a little

Had a request to make a custom sign for a craft show shop. Was sent the logo and was told to make it solid so it could travel and hang freely or on a wall. Had a piece of Corafoam so I gave it a whirl. Then I made the solid maple frame for it to sit in. Painted (or close to that) with acrylic paint and sprayed with Rustoleum 2x semi gloss. Glued in the frame with Titebond Ultimate. Whole thing weighs 13 pounds. Should serve the purpose.

That must be pretty dense foam to weigh that much. Nice job on the paint.

Most of the weight is in the frame. 3/4 maple for the back and another 3/4 glued to that for the edging.

Well done, John, I am not a fan of that particular color, but the colors went together very well. I imagine they spec'd the colors , WOW a 3/4" back, that will make a durable sign. The workmanship is top notch.

John, How did you adhere the foam to the back board?

Titebond Ultimate. I took 4 pieces of Corafoam and glued them to a scrap piece of the maple.
1 - Elmers white glue
2 - Gurilla Glue
3 - TB Ultimate
4 - Loctite Epoxy Pro
The Elmers held pretty good but I was able to pull the Corafoam off. Gurilla Glue held real good but left a gap, expanded, and bubbled the Corafoam. That stuff is terrible to work with. The Titebond Ultimate held very good. I was able to pry the Corafoam off, but it took a lot of effort. The Epoxy was the best but there was a lot of area to cover with a fast set up time. Plus it's awful expensive. I spread a generous coat of TB on the backboard, put the Corafoam on top ( it fit pretty tight) and let it set overnight.
