It really isn't a bad idea. On the vertical like that would make some jobs easier, especially if I was inclined to stand more than I do. I did built my bench around the basic idea of a central trough to hold some of the essential tools you constantly use and the dog holed slabs on either side of the trough with a Veritas Twin Screw Vise at the end of the bench. I have no regrets with that design but if you are working on something with small parts , those parts have an affinity for falling through the dog holes.

All I can say after working in the field so many years with a 5 gal bucket turned upside down, and sawhorses, the table saw sitting on the dirt, it might be an improvement. But I am with Stick,my first thought was things falling on the floor. Then they showed the gutter trough and that solved that problem, Seems like a person would need an extra hand or two to hold things in place to clamp. But some smart ass would turn it over and put legs on it,what you bet?
