It seems as though Woodpecker is trying to fill the void of Bridge City Tool Co, since they went Chinese. There are several Mortise Machines out there for less than that, I like floating tenons, and use them often,
but I don't need an expensive jig to do them.

You guys are missing the most important aspect of this new tool...it's CUTE name ! "Morty"

Now people who buy it can see things like..."Hey reach in there and pull my Morty out, will ya" and "My Morty's dusty, can you help blow it off ?" and "Hey honey, I'm going to the shop and play with my Morty"...

I'm sure you guys can think of more...

Okay, let me try this again.

Just finished watching this video showing the build of a mortising jig for making loose tenon joints using the Festool dominos. mini mortising jig Set up for a 5/8" guide bushing, presumably so that the opening would locate on the end of 3/4" material, should be OK as it would allow the use of 10mm thick dominos. Think this is going to jump up to the top of my "things to make" list. I have the Domino, but it seems to be a little fussy setting up the attachment to put the mortise in the end of narrow stock.

Along the same lines, Peter Millard put out this video showing building a fixture to add the mortises in the horizontal and vertical components of 12" (300 mm) deep cabinets. loose tenon jig - basically cutting the mortises for the dominos at the corners of the cabinet, but using a plunge router. He only cuts two mortises per joint, I would probably modify the fixture to add a third in the center. For someone making lots of this size cabinet, it looks as if the fixture would get the job done a little quicker than the Domino as all the layout would be eliminated and it just looks like a more efficient way of making multiple assemblies.

Definitely not for the DIY market unless you have more money than brains. A few times over the last 2 or 3 years I've needed to put mortises into pieces too long to put on my DP and use my mortising attachment for. You can make them out of scrap and it took me anywhere from around 20 minutes to 45 minutes to make them. I make them to do the job at hand and then burn them when I'm done.

It looks like a Fancied Up Mortise Pal. Bright red finish and all. Not interested! I wasn't for the Mortise Pal either, and it was much cheaper. You could almost buy a Leigh FMT Pro for that much, and it's much more capable.

Isn't that what a horizontal mounted router table is for?
I think 'Router Magic' has a build for one in the book. (I might be incorrect...)
