NCWoodworker is on the list, but it doesn't say that we are a "Virtual Club". It's all on the Internet. We get together on the Website, much like here on WOW. There are no meetings to attend or dues to pay. We get together on the Website, and it's open to all of the surrounding States and down to Florida, or if you are or in anyway have, had, or soon will have a connection to North Carolina, in some way, like spent time here while in the military, once lived here, etc. you can become a member.

We have a picnic, usually every Spring in non COVID years and spend 15 minutes or so electing our new officers during the picnic. A raffle is held before the picnic and the drawing is held at the picnic that has provided the needed funds to keep the Website operating and the costs incurred to operate the club. We have a trailer full of hand and power tools, and before COVID we were doing free classes around NC for Scouts, Schools, Military bases, etc. Mostly providing an "Introduction To Woodworking" type of class. The teachers are all volunteer club members with years of experience. Once you are a member, you are a member for life, no matter what changes in your life or where you move to. There are also several group luncheons in various parts of NC where small groups of us get together for "Show And Tell" friendly meet-ups to enable more personable contact and to put a face on that website member name. This too has suffered from COVID, but still alive and will hopefully be bigger than ever once COVID has passed.

Thanks for posting that,Charley. Our club,The North West Wood Workers Assoc. Is thinking about doing that. Before COVID we had in person monthly meetings ,alternating between Rockler and Woodcraft. Since COVID we went Zooming. Only young new members mostly participated in that. We have 89 members and usually 25 or so showed for the monthly meetings. I suggested setting up a Forum and they are thinking about it. They already have a web site,https://nwwoodworkers.org/, so it might be possible to add a forum. I am not an IT guy, but we have a lot of new young guys that might know how to do that. I referred them to phpBB software to get them thinking.

Tell them to look at the www.ncwoodworker.net website and even contact the officers to as questions about doing this. It has worked out very well for us. Today's busy lifestyle makes it difficult for everyone to be available for "Specific Time and place" meetings. It's been tough enough for us to get together for the small group lunch get togethers and even the picnic held only once a year. The website makes it easy to stay in touch, share ideas, end even share pics of projects that we've made. Although I'm a member, I'm not an officer, and not nearly as active as I once was, mostly because of health problems. I'm still healthy enough to visit the site almost every day. One of our officers right now lives in Hawaii, but once lived here in NC. The internet and the club website still keeps him in close contact with us.
