Workin at it...

#1

Post by OutoftheWoodwork »

So I am Completely and utterly spoiled and got a new toy from Ken. From there I made it into the shop and got a couple things cut. My yearly craft show is the 6th, so I have a ton of things to do. Here's What's 'at least cut.
Doing this on my phone, so if they don't come out I'll fix them when I get home.

Happy Thanksgiving to all, and I hope everyone has wonderful holiday.

Excellent! That beast should be the last scroll saw you'll ever need. :)
We can't get JET machinery up her in Canada any more; really a shame. They make great stuff. I have a JET 6" jointer and a floor model drill press.

Either that or Pegas is a rebranded Jet, But I see a lot of the same design, maybe Excalibur was the original.

My Excalibur which is from 2012 is the same design, but the blade changing technique is different. My first blade change was quite a struggle on this machine, but I find I kinda like it. Having an issue with the blade burning the wood right now. Taking a break and looking at finding a different brand of blades.

Barb,
Are you using the same blades as the other machine?
will any of the parts on the old machine interchange with the new one?
what causes burn, blade speed, turning radius,Material thickness. cutting speed, hardness of the wood? It looks like you are using maple, it has a tendency to burn.

The blade the machine came with didn't burn like this. My first angel I cut was with the blade it came with and I had no issues? Soon as I changed over to my Olsen blade, they were burning the wood. I can cut pine with no issue, but the red, thick, or oak? Forget it. Using no. 9 crown tooth like I always do. Bought blades last night meant for thick and susceptible to burning to see what happens.

As for the parts, didn't look. Ken put my Excalibur over to the side to look at later. He might look at it over the wi ter while he's off.
