Nick

I have one and it has performed very well. An interesting issue is that I contacted Ridgid about a repair and once they confirmed that the one I had was bought through HD their response was "they could not service the device".

Cheers

When Sears bought a run of tools from a manufacturer they took over warranty issues too and probably got a way better price for doing so. I wonder if HD gets a deal for some similar type agreement?

Hard to say on that one. I was interested in buying a new sanding unit as I accidentally wore a groove in the face plate on mine. Unfortunately, neither HD or Ridgid was wiling to sell me just that part. Because I had registered the warranty with HD they told me to bring in the system and they would "evaluate" the matter. Never got around to that, decided the groove was not that significant.

It shouldn't be too hard to make one, how did a groove wear in? I love mine, and I think I got it at HD too on a black Fri special. So much for HD Warranties.....I have always found that Warranties aren't worth the paper they are printed on, and will never buy anything based on Warranties. The first thing to go into the trash before the packaging is the warranty. Sears HAD the best warranty ever on their tools at one time, but now they are gone.
If my Ridgid OBS expired,I would buy another, I use it on every project.

Definitely agree the value Herb. I would replace it.
