Many thanks to Stick486 and Cherryville Chuck for contributing this.

Welcome to the Workers of Wood Woodworking Forum

The Inevitable Disclaimer:

Working with tools is hazardous. Some of the methods that are suggested have been developed after years of experience of using the tools and developing that method. Don't automatically assume that that method is safe for you to use. If it doesn't seem safe to you then ask for clarification or if there are other methods that might be safer. Your eyes, ears, and hands aren't replaceable so don't take risks with them. Ultimately, the decision to use any method suggested by a member of the Forum is yours and yours alone.

The Rules

Accounts and User Names- Only one account per member. If you are having trouble with yours or want something changed please contact a Moderator. User names may not be obscene, inappropriate, or be a company name.

Your Bio- Should be about your woodworking interests, your experience , and your tools. If it's essentially an advertisement for your company or someone else's company it won't be allowed. You may include a link to your own personal website if you have one or to something like an Etsy account. It's part of who you are and what you do and how we get to know you.

Member Respect- It's not uncommon for members to disagree on how to do something. State your reasons why you disagree in a polite and respectful manner. It's up to the individual member to decide what is appropriate and safe for them. People from all over the planet are welcome to join this forum. Their customs and religious and political ideas may be different than yours. Be respectful of that. They are expected to be respectful of yours in return.

What can be posted- Anything woodworking and woodworking tool related. Other subjects are allowed in the Saloon sub-forum provided they aren't obscene, pornographic, political specifically to a person or political party (non-specific generalizations are allowed), or demeaning to a gender, class, or race of people.

What can't be posted- Profanity is not allowed. Likewise, Ads for companies, Tool reviews where you received the tool in return for giving it a free ad on the forum, Links to companies or services or to pay to play sites. Distribution of "chain letters" or the like are also not allowed. Members are not interested in "mail order" brides nor the money some lawyer wants to send us, for example.

Private Info- Don't post it on the open forum. This includes street addresses, phone numbers, and personal email addresses. If you want and need to share that kind of info with another member then send it in a private message but be aware that PM's, like any other form of personal communication, may not be 100% secure.

Advertising- You may advertise your own personal products with links in your bio or signature. You may not start a thread with ads for your products but if a member is asking for a solution to a problem that your product will solve then you may post a link to it and/or picture of it. Linking to manufacturer products is allowed under the same criteria and also to notify members of special deals but not where you will profit personally from such recommendation.

Copyrighted material- Be cautious with this. If it's something that looks like the author had no intention of freely sharing then don't post it. If it's something you found on the web then post a link to it or copy and paste it plus a link to it. If it's something like a syndicated or copy righted cartoon then it's best you don't. Copying/Scanning articles from subscription magazines are also copyrighted unless the author explicitly provides permission to copy and redistribute.

Complaints and Rule Violations- If you have a complaint against another member or regarding administrative actions taken against you for rule violations you are not allowed to post threads complaining about it. All complaints will be directed towards the Moderator/Admin team. Their decisions are final. Administrative actions may include a warning or warnings, temporary bans, and permanent banning from this site at the discretion of the Mod/Admin team and according to the nature and severity of the rule violations.

We want this to be a friendly and inclusive site that promotes all aspects of woodworking and shop safety so please help us keep it that way.

Don't piss off old people. The older we get the less "Life in Prison" is a deterrent !
