Nothing Much

Post by OutoftheWoodwork »

It's a rarity I get to sit to my laptop and do what I want to do... I usually only get on here these days to do the billing and payment posting for Ken. Just too tired...

So between the adulting and the mess in my shop and my lack of energy, not a lot has been done. Ken began to invade too far into my shop, so the goal was to get his sh*t outta my shop!

We've been building Ken a 12x16 shop at a snails pace since July. Ken and I tore down the plastic shed in May or June, (which took me three days to recover from after that mess), and Ken marked out the spot, and removed the soil for the stones shortly thereafter. We started the build in August, and as of today, we still need to shingle and side the shed, but Ken's sh*t is OUTTA MY SHOP!!!! YAY!!!!

We found a YouTube video on this disc flag, so I decided to try my hand at it. I have four or five discs, and made a couple of them. Want to do more before my show in December, but I have a lot of things to get to. This weekend I'll be trying to figure out how to set up the shop now that the whole shop is all mine to work in....

So here's a couple pics. I'll find the most recent of Ken's shed (which for not being carpenters, I'm pretty proud of it.) and I'll try to get it added here somewhere

Thank you. The roof is just a gambrel (barn-style) roof, and we did it that way, so Ken would be able to have a good-sized loft, since it's only 12x16. They were a royal pain, because we didn't know what we were doing, and had no one to help us build them. The roof is far from perfect because of it, but, it's the best we could do under the circumstances. Here's what the lofts look like (as of last night. Building the doors and everything today.) I found a version of this style of loft on the internet, and Ken really liked it, so we went with it.

I did three different sizes for the flag: 9", 12", and 14" I think. John had given me a couple rounds he had that were off center from one of his designs that he couldn't use, so I cut it down and made them into the flags.

I got the idea from here to make them. I used the video as a guide on how to figure out the size and proportion of the star area, and bought the stencil on Amazon. I also bought the military stencils, but those aren't available anymore. I don't know if Amazon cut ties with the company, or what, but when I went to my order, I got the 404 error that the page isn't there anymore. Hope this helps
