Okay folks, question here1

#1

Post by MikeSibley »

I have a new rotary axis coming for my CNC (Avid) and have a question. How does one carve a corbel, three sided, to make the edges of the model smooth on the edges? I understand that one can carve each of the sides individually, but if I want to do something like that, how does one set up the machine/software?

Just trying to learn.

I would imagine, beside software and programming, an articulating arm would be necessary. Don't think I've seen a CNC like that...

Something like the robotic arms used in manufacturing...

it'll take at least a 4 or 5 axis machine to do as a one piece...
or he will have to section the corbel as a 3 piece... a left side, a right side and the face...
