Re: Screwdriver
Since the turnscrew cannot turn the screw by itself, then the person or item turning the screw must be the screwturner,i,e. "How many screws could a screwturner screw if a screwturner could turns screws"?
So that leads to the question, does a screwturner must have a turnscrew to turn screws, or is he screwed? The answer is no, as an old carpenter once said screws are to be pounded in and screwed out.

Probably from the French word for one. Tourne a vis which literally means turn the screw.Herb Stoops wrote: ↑Thu Sep 23, 2021 10:58 am Did you know that the humble slotted screwdriver was called a Turnscrew?

Re: Screwdriver
Good question. You mean Hokie, he was her chauffeur he was driving her Caddy.
I worked with an old carpenter once that was putting rough posts and beams together. He drove the lag screws in with a small sledge hammer and took a crescent wrench and gave them a quarter turn.

Re: Screwdriver
I guess you evidently have never seen Denver Drywall's crews in action...
skip the quarter turn though...
and then there's their trick of using a felt tip to simulate installed screws... the up high ones or where they're hard to install...
