Nicely done...simple and elegant.
I couldn't help but do a search and found quite an interesting story behind that particular drawing of the tools of the period and the book from which it came...in particular, the importance of the workbench, it's dimensions and the components of the bench...

When I took a class in framing, the instructor said, "If the first thing someone notices is the framing, you've done it wrong."
I've done more elegant framing, including some for an artist with $20,000 paintings. They were a little more complex and a lot bigger.

I've made a few of my own frames just because custom made purchased ones are so expensive plus I just wanted to. The color of the matting makes a difference too as does the color of the frame. My wife bought a couple of prints once from an artist she liked and wanted them framed. We investigated having frames made ($$$), then I decided to do it ($) and once done we put the prints in the frames and with bare wood they didn't look good. The light colored birch I used took your focus to them rather than the prints. So I stained them colors that blended with the main color theme of the prints, one blue and the other green and the frames are barely noticeable as a result. I use Saman brand stains which can be bought (and blended) to 127 or 128 colours. Really I think they are more dye than stain which means you can use any type finish over them.
