It has a crank on the side, I wonder if the crank turns the pencil? or if it is just to go along with the design.

I'm willing to bet the crank has nothing to do with the sharpening...I'm thinking you put the pencil in and turn the pencil...

You are probably right, the cutting blade looks to be a fixed blade. Even has a dust collector port on top.... LOL :lol: :lol: :lol:

Since the shavings could be an indication that it simulates a planer, it might be appropriate to connect a 2-stage cyclonic high-cfm large duct collection system. Now to find the right adapters... :D

That is pretty cool it is always interesting to see some of the things that were made out of cast iron. Before the age of pot metal and plastics.

Yeah, I have one that I bought in college in 1970 or so. It still puts a wicked sharp on a pencil.
