I finally made something

#1

Post by Jon »

A friend of SWMBO has started baking bread, quite good at it I might add, so it was suggested that I make a bread bow as a birthday gift. The results are shown below. The oak was trim from a house built over 50 years ago. The finish was Buthcer block

Nice. Is the blade purpose made for that or repurposed?

Appreciate the feedback.

The blade is purpose made, I bought a small packet of them from an online company at kencraftcompny.com along with a pattern for the bow. The first one I made about 5 years ago is still performing very well per the owner.

I figured out a way to sharpen blades like that when they get dull. I glued sandpaper on wooden dowel and chucked it in a drill and ran it around the contours. 600 grit wet or dry does a pretty good job but you can go finer.
